Google BigQuery: The Not So Secret Deal Means You Get Googles Fastest & Most Powerful Data Warehouse For Free!
Try Google BigQuery today: Now with 10GB of free storage & a terabyte of queries
Google announced that their Google BigQuery data warehouse has a new free tier. What does this new tier include?
- Every month Google will give you a free terabyte of queries
- Every month you’ll be able to load your own data at no cost — up to 10GB
Taking Advantage Of The Free Google BigQuery Offer
The Google BigQuery free usage tier is for new or existing customers, and it never expires. BigQuery has two components of its free tier: one for storage (10GB) and one for analysis 1TB/month. So, if you keep your usage under those limits, you’ll never get charged.
10GB of storage will equate to loading a 300K file everyday for 365 days. Not bad! However, if you exceed that 10GB limit BigQuery currently charges a flat rate of $0.02 per GB, per month for all stored data. So an extra 10GB of storage would be $2.40 for 12 months. Google provides a robust collection of cost control tools as well to ensure you don’t exceed your free tier limits too.
Google also offers new users a $300 credit that expires in 12 months to use with the free trial. This trial is available to any and all Google Cloud Platform products, including Google BigQuery. This credit can be used to cover any overages that might occur beyond your free tier limits.
Getting Google BigQuery Is Easy
